Pirate’s Music Box is a 'Dynamic Information Generated Interactive Art' or DIGIA that creates music for people who are downloading music illegally thorugh Bittorrent network. The interactive piece tries to convey a message about the evolution of music industry. The day of big name artists and major lables are over. This is the sound of the new generation. I bring up the "Last Album" from the Beatles called "Let it be" to create a pun between the picture and the social context about my statement. And then, I devide the picture into 40x40 tiles. I place black and white music label logos on the tiles. When Bittorrent users get online, every 1000 user will flip 1 tile into colored bittorrent client logos PMB allows users to listen to the sound of the new generation dynamically by refreshing the tile everytime the playhead reaches the edge of the screen. |
